Wisdom from an Older Fisherman

Wisdom from an Older Fisherman
By Stephon Latham aka Silentpoet
(In response to gifted poet, Philips Lewis poem, Don’t Chase The Currents)

Man, leave that fish alone
And let the currents move her left
Because her current state of mind
Is polluted, diluted and she lacks knowledge of self

Don’t be fooled by the curl of her smile
Nor the curve of her fin
That’s the same bait she used
To lure me in

She’s as beautiful as the day
When the sun’s ray illuminate the ocean
She’s as beautiful as the night
When the stars and moonlight fight
Trying to capture my focus

Now she leaped into my arms
With such excitement and such glee
As I started to pull her near
She commenced to slap me

It was clear as the sparkling water
She knew not what she wanted
But her nice fin and pretty smile,
That she knew how to flaunt it

From older fisherman to younger fisherman
Maybe you should change your bait
Rather than use your eyes
Use your heart and continue to wait

See a fisherman can be blind
But the heart still has sight
And beat of the heart moves with the hands on the clock.
So if she bites, the timing is right.
